Santorini’s Architecture: Timeless and Elegant

Over the years Santorini has emerged as a top destination for the holidaymakers. The sparkling waters, the majestic sunsets and its quintessentially tranquil setting merge perfectly with the island’s Cycladic architecture. Depicted exclusively in its whitewashed edifices and the beautiful churches that dot the island, Santorini features incomparable beauty.  Perched on red volcanic cliffs or nestled in the narrow streets, the locations of the houses were cherry-picked to withstand the furry of strong winds and the pirate invasions.

Among the most notable architectural landmarks are the Catholic Cathedral of Fira, the Kasteli Castle and the Argyros Mansion. While on Santorini, don’t forget to visit the  Folklore Museum. It will give you a deep insight into the 19th-century architecture. Roaming the charming villages of the island is also a great idea to capture the beauty found in its settlements.
